MARCHING SONG

MARCHING SONG

Onward march, onward march, onward march,
Everything is in a flutter today on our earth.
Music flourishes up in the sky
And the trumpet rings, mighty and high.
Youth of the new Dawn,
March on, on, on.

Storming the doors of the down
We shall usher in the glorious morn.
We shall destroy the darkness of the night,
And all barriers triumphantly fight.
Of the fresh and the new we shall sing,
The dead to life shall we bring,
And to the tired arms, new strength add,
Bringing new hopes to all who are weary and sad.

March ahead, you bold youths all,
And, at the doors of Death, listen to the call
Of a life that is fresh and new.
March ahead even if your numbers are few.
There sounds the command of thunder !
Throw open the shutters of the house of slumber.
Dress like a soldier today,
And march forward on the tempestuous way.
Usher in the morning red,
March ahead, march ahead, march ahead.

Does the memory of past glories
Bring tears to your eyes?
Does the thought of royal stories
Draw from your bosom tender sighs?
Oh, grieve not for the throne and the crown,
You who have seen Persia, Greece and Rome drown
In seas of oblivion,
You who have seen them rise again with renewed vigour.
March on, march on, march on,
Rousing yourselves from this fatal stupor.

Harken, there sounds the clarion call,
We must build a new Tajmahal
Out of this dust,
We must, we must, we must.
